Egyptian goalkeeper coach Ahmed Nagy has ruled out Sherif Ekramy from upcoming international friendlies ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Nagy confirmed his four keepers to represent the Pharaohs next month and has included Ahmed El-Shenawy, Mohamed El-Shenawy, Essam El-Hadary and Mohamed Awad.
Nagy has also shared his thoughts on his choices to Sada Elbalad as he revealed why Ekramy was sidelined for the friendlies.
“I already spoke with Ekramy and he will return to the national team as soon he as gets more playing time,” said the coach.
“I also spoke Awad too, he will be having some medical tests and expected to be out for around two weeks for a slight injury.
“El-Hadary, is doing great things in Saudi Arabia, he is a great example and a role model, the World Cup is not until June and everyone has the chance to join the national team.
“The first choice goalkeeper will be only decided upon the World Cup, things may change and we hope not but someone might get injured, and I prefer not to reveal the first choice so none of them are discouraged too.”
Coach Hector Cuper’s side will have their camp in Zurich, Switzerland next March where they will be facing Portugal and Greece.
