Yacine Brahimi has warned his Porto teammates of the danger posed by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah ahead of the teams’ UEFA Champions League clash tomorrow evening.
The Portuguese side will host their English counterparts at Estadio Do Dragao for the first leg of their last 16 knockout tie.
Porto possess several dangerous players of their own, not least the African quartet of Algerian Brahimi, Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar, Malian forward Moussa Marega and new Ghanaian signing Majeed Waris.
Yet it is Egyptian Salah, who has scored 29 goals across all competitions this season, who is being tipped as the potential match-winner.
“It will be a great match, with a lot of intensity. Liverpool is a very, very good team, very strong offensively, who presses a lot,” Brahimi told UEFA.com.
“However, we will prepare well this game. We had other important encounters before, but we will be ready when the time comes.”
Brahimi added, “He [Salah] is having a big season. He is very important to Liverpool, he has a lot of influence, he scores a lot of goals and is very decisive.
“We will have to try to stop him from doing what he has been doing since the beginning of the year. He is an excellent player so it is up to us to stop him from shining that day.
“He was voted Best Player of Africa, he is a great player who was able to demonstrate the extent of his talent. I am happy for him, and it is a very good thing for African football.”
